Jae-O Bae, MD

Pediatric Surgeon

Jae-O Bae, MD grew up in northern New Jersey. He obtained his undergraduate education at the Johns Hopkins University, graduating with honors, and then went on to UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School graduating in 2000.

He completed his residency in general surgery at Columbia University Medical Center/New York-Presbyterian Hospitals. During his residency, he spent two years doing basic science research in neuroblastoma angiogenesis combined with a clinical fellowship in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian. Following his general surgery training, Dr. Bae completed his pediatric surgery fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School/Children’s Medical Center at Dallas.

Dr. Bae is board certified in pediatric surgery and general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His medical interests include childhood cancers and patients diagnosed with chest wall anomalies.

Dr. Bae began serving as the Pediatric Surgery Medical Director at Scottsdale Healthcare – Shea in September, 2012. He is a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association’s Cancer Committee. Dr. Bae was named to the Best Doctors in America ® 2012-2013.

Dr. Bae joined Pediatric Surgeons of Phoenix in 2009. He and his wife live in Phoenix with their three children and he spends most of his free time enjoying outdoor activities with his family.
